Our state-of-the-art labs in Calgary and Obed ensure that our products are all the best quality and can reach top performance.
We not only use our lab to test quality of proppants leaving our facilities but also the sand and proppants of our clients so that we can understand their needs and issues down to the finest grain of sand.
Our commitment to testing and analysis sets us apart. We test for five key reasons:
We monitor the quality of the sand and resin coated proppants that move through our facilities. We are ensuring it meets API/ISO standards.
ENSURING CORRECT SPECIFICATIONS
We ensure our resin coated sand facility is manufacturing the resin coated sand to our exact specification through analysis and testing.
We catch, remove, and quarantine any out of spec products that have been manufactured so that they are never an issue for our clients.
We monitor initial frac flowback to verify performance of resin coated proppants in controlling flowback. We also monitor production flowback return samples to double check our sand separator performance. We
analyze several key things:
• Amount of solids flowing back
• Size of solids flowing back
• Composition of the solids
• If flowback particles crushed
• Size of solids separators are catching.
We monitor performance so that our experts can offer insights into potential frac design changes. We believe in continuous improvement throughout the full proppant life-cycle.
RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT
Improve Current Coatings
Research and Understand Value-Add Coatings
Develop New Coatings
We know it is important for our clients to understand how Wayfinder’s products and approach differs from our peers. Through testing and analysis, we can provide our clients with relevant and exact specifications about our products with data that we can standby. We offer a comprehensive training program for our clients to aid in the understanding of proppants.
API Testing allows us to compare and ensure the same procedure is followed for a sound ‘apples to apples’ comparison of all proppants and sand that come through our facilities. We can ensure consistency in many specifications through this testing, including: size and shape, conductivity and permeability, crush resistance, and turbidity.
Through testing and analysis our lab assists our exploration team as they look for new sand deposits. Our lab can test mineralogy and a number of other factors to ensure discoveries are of the best quality.
